5 STEPS TO OVERCOMING DIFFICULT SITUATIONS
Have you ever had a hard time overcoming difficult situations? Life is a continual series of mountain tops and valleys. A combination of happy moments, normal experiences, and difficult situations. Sometimes you feel euphoric, and other times you feel like the world is falling apart around you.
Ecclesiastes 7:14 says; “In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity, consider: God has made the one as well as the other.”
The way you respond to these difficult moments is what really defines you as a person. When you’re able to navigate challenging situations in a healthy way, not only do you experience growth, but you also enjoy life a whole lot more. So here are five steps to overcoming any difficult situation in life.
#1 – GIVE YOURSELF PERMISSION TO BE HUMAN
It may be that the situation you are in was caused by your own clumsiness, your inadequacies, or an even a mistake you made. While there will always be time to learn lessons for the future. In the moment, release yourself from any guilt, shame, and condemnation that you may be tempted to feel. And even allow yourself to grieve over the situation.
#2 – FIND STRENGTH IN GOD
Release your worries, your fears, and your anxieties to God through prayer. Be encouraged by meditating on the life-giving promises found in the Scriptures. And allow yourself to experience Gods grace through the encouragement & support available in spiritual friendships.
#3 – INTERPRET YOUR CURRENT SITUATION IN THE HEALTHIEST WAY POSSIBLE
There is always more than one way to view any situation. Some people seem to be able to take great situations and somehow view them negatively, while there are others who can always seem to find the silver lining even in a bad situation. How you choose to interpret your circumstances will have a massive impact on how quickly you are able to move past it. Remember, life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent how you respond to it.
#4 – CHANGE WHAT YOU CAN, ACCEPT WHAT YOU CAN’T
Once you have properly internalized the situation by doing everything mentioned above. Then you’re in a state where can actually begin to work on the problem itself from a healthy place in your soul. At this point, change what you can while at the same time accepting the things that you can’t change.
#5 – REMEMBER THAT THIS TOO WILL PASS
All of life is impermanent. The problems that seem so overwhelming right now will one day be nothing but a distant memory. Find hope in the reality that this situation won’t last forever. And remind yourself that the best is yet to come.
